What we do with personal data on rootnet.ai. It is short, because we collect very little.

This page explains what happens to personal data on rootnet.ai. There is no account on this site, no login, no payment and no profile. Most of what follows is a description of how little there is.
Who we are
rootnet.ai is operated by FlareWare Solutions. FlareWare Solutions is the data controller for the data described on this page.
RootNet is a brand we operate. Myco is a product line under that brand. Neither of them is a separate company.

What we collect
When you visit the site
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, handles every request to rootnet.ai. In doing that it processes your IP address, your browser's user agent string, the page you asked for, the time you asked for it, and the response we gave. This happens on every website. We use it to keep the site running and to protect it from abuse. It is not used to build a profile of you and it is not combined with anything else.
If you send us your details
There is no form on this site at the moment. Nothing on rootnet.ai asks you for your name, your email address or anything else. If you write to us, we have your message and whatever is in it, and we keep it for as long as we need it to answer you.
When a form is added to this site, this page will be updated on the same day and will say exactly what that form collects, why, and for how long. We will not add a form and describe it here afterwards.
We do not collect anything else. We do not buy personal data, we do not enrich what we hold from other sources, and we do not run advertising.
Why we are allowed to
For the server records described above, we rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the site available and secure. We think that is fair to you because the data is not used to build a profile, it is not sold, and it is not combined with anything else. You can object to it. The section on your rights says how.
If we ever ask you for your email address, we will rely on your consent, we will ask for it with an unticked box, and you will be able to take it back as easily as you gave it.
What is stored on your device
This site sets no cookies of its own. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no tracking of any kind. There are no third party scripts on any page and no requests to anyone else's servers.
We store one thing, and only if you ask us to. If you use the control that pauses the moving background, we save that one choice in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it next time. It is the word "on" or the word "off". Nothing about it leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Two other things can come from our hosting provider rather than from us.
- Network error reporting. Cloudflare turns this on by default across its network. It asks your browser to keep a short reporting policy and to tell Cloudflare when a connection to us fails. It is not a cookie, it holds nothing about you as a person, and we did not choose it. We are switching it off before this site is published, and this paragraph goes with it.
- A short lived security cookie. If Cloudflare needs to check that a visitor is not an automated attack, it can set one. We have not switched on any Cloudflare feature that does this routinely, so in normal use you should see none. If one does appear it is there for security, it holds no information about you as a person, and it expires quickly.
Apart from those, we store nothing on your device and we read nothing from it. That is why there is no cookie banner on this site. A banner is required when a site stores or reads information on your equipment beyond what is strictly necessary. We do not, so the question does not arise. If that ever changes, we will ask you first, and we will not treat carrying on reading as an answer.
Who else sees it
Cloudflare hosts the site and handles every request to it. That is the only company involved.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We never have, and we have no plan to. We do not give your details to anyone else for their own marketing. If we ever add another provider, it will be named here before it goes live, not after.
If we are ever legally required to hand something over, we will, and we will tell you unless we are forbidden to.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed standard for what a website should do when it receives one, and different sites treat it differently.
We do not track you across other websites at all, with or without the signal. There is nothing for us to change when we receive it, because there is nothing running that it would switch off. We also do not allow anyone else to collect personally identifiable information about your activity across other sites through this one, because there is nobody else here to do it.
Where your data goes
Cloudflare is a United States company running a global network, and it serves this site from whichever of its locations is closest to you. So a request you make may be handled outside the United Kingdom and outside the European Economic Area.
We are established in Canada. Both the European Commission and the United Kingdom recognise Canada as giving personal data an adequate level of protection when it is handled by a commercial organisation, so nothing extra is needed for data that reaches us.
Cloudflare handles the request records described above under its own data protection terms. If you want to see what covers that, write to us and we will point you at the current version of them.
How long we keep it
- The motion preference stays in your browser until you clear it. We never see it.
- Server records are kept for as long as our hosting provider retains them. We will state that period here once we have confirmed it.
- If you write to us, we keep your message for as long as we need it to deal with what you asked about, and then we delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you what we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it
- stop or limit what we do with it
- give you a copy in a portable format
- stop processing that you object to
- withdraw your consent, where we asked for it
Write to rutvik@flareware.app and we will answer within one month. There is no charge.
If you are not happy with how we handled it, you can complain to a data protection regulator. In Canada that is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. In the United Kingdom it is the Information Commissioner's Office. In the European Union it is the supervisory authority in the country you live in.
Children
This site is aimed at people who work in technology. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Security
Every page on this site is served over HTTPS. The site is a set of static files with no database behind it and no code running on our servers, which removes most of the ways a website leaks data.
If something goes wrong and it puts your data at risk, we will report it to the relevant regulator within 72 hours of finding out, and we will tell you directly if the risk to you is high.
This section is about the website. It is not a statement about the security of Myco, which is a different piece of software with its own posture.
Changes
If we change this page, we will change the date at the top of it. If a change is significant and we hold your email address, we will tell you before it takes effect.
